Carrot and parsnip rice balls: a recipe idea for an 8-month-old baby that doesn't require salt
When preparing BLW, we love adding flavor to recipes for 8-month-olds with spices and aromatic herbs. Salt is strongly discouraged during baby-led weaning. Your little one's kidneys are still too immature to properly digest all that salt. The recommended daily intake of one gram of salt for babies is already met by the many foods naturally containing salt in our recipes for 8-month-olds. For example, when cooking the starchy ingredients for carrot and parsnip rice balls, be careful not to add salt to the water.
