Introduce yourself and your baby in a few words.
I am 29 years old and I am the father of Julia who is now 13 months old. I am a carpenter, but also the first male babywearing instructor in Wallonia.
Why did you choose BLW ?
My wife and I discovered BLW while we were expecting Julia and we loved the idea that she could discover the food for herself.
What scared you?
I was fairly calm, but my wife was initially a little worried about suffocation. I took a day of pediatric first aid training and we were all reassured!
Did the BLW Baby platform help you? If so, how?
The platform helped us find great recipes adapted to Julia's fine motor skills stage. We also found answers to all the practical questions we had (equipment, etc.)
When did the baby start eating more elaborate recipes?
From the second week onwards, I made her recipes from the platform and she enjoyed them.
Baby's favorite recipe
Without a doubt: spinach pancakes! A huge and enduring success. She's still just as big a fan today.
What doesn't the baby like?
Contrary to popular belief, Julia hates carrots. We've tried offering them to her in all forms, but so far it's been a failure.
Any advice for parents who want to get started?
To be well-informed and to let go.
Do you have a nice or not-so-nice anecdote to share?
One day we cooked several recipes in advance for Julia throughout the afternoon in order to have reserves in the freezer.
All the dishes were cooling on the worktop while waiting to be put in the fridge.
Julia wakes up from her nap and we go to get her from her room… meanwhile, Plume, our dog, has benefited from our culinary talents… she ate absolutely everything…
We were devastated and she was sick for 48 hours
