At the beginning of baby-led weaning (BLW), you might feel like your little one is playing with their food more during mealtimes than actually eating. This isn't exactly what will happen. BLW starts with a discovery phase where you stimulate your baby's five senses with colorful recipes, melt-in-your-mouth textures, delicious aromas, and so on. This discovery phase will require a lot of energy and attention from your little one, and indeed, they won't eat much. Don't worry, your baby's energy and nutritional needs will always be met by their daily intake of breast milk or formula until they are 12 months old. Furthermore, a baby's appetite constantly fluctuates throughout their development, with teething, fatigue, growth spurts, and so forth. Your little one will experience these changes. And, like adults, some days your baby will be less hungry. At the beginning of BLW , there's no need to put pressure on yourself by cooking numerous BLW and forcing your little one to eat. The BLW will allow the baby to learn the feeling of satiety and will always eat until satisfied.
