Did you know? Baby-led weaning (BLW) is marked by three main stages that follow your baby's development . Indeed, we can observe developmental periods that each baby goes through at their own pace. The ages given are for informational purposes only; every child develops differently, they are simply there to give you an idea. It all begins with the discovery period of 6 to 7 months. At the start of BLW , babies play with food more than they eat, and that's perfectly normal. Babies discover the new world of solid food with foods in their raw form. Their five senses will be engaged at mealtimes. Next comes the developmental period during which interest in food gradually increases. From 7 to 9 months, babies will discover foods in BLW adapted to their development. Finally, weaning concludes with the refinement period of 9 to 12 months. Babies develop their fine motor skills and can now grasp small foods with their pincer grasp. This is also the time to introduce recipes with a crunchy texture. BLW continues beyond baby's first birthday with the introduction of cutlery and a plate at mealtimes.
