From the very beginning of baby-led weaning, your little one will discover different foods while developing their fine motor skills. But what exactly are fine motor skills? Fine motor skills are the coordination of the small muscles in the hand, fingers, and wrist that allows for very precise movements. These fine motor skills will enable your baby to eat independently during meals by bringing food to their mouth on their own. The different stages of BLW are often linked to these fine motor skills. Indeed, they will allow your baby to grasp increasingly smaller foods, progressing from sticks to small pieces and eventually to eating with utensils. You can help your baby develop their motor skills by offering food in different shapes at mealtimes, depending on their development. The BLW for red fruit bollys will allow your baby to practice the pincer grasp for picking up the little balls! It is also possible to develop fine motor skills while having fun with small grasping games such as balls, play mats, stacking games, activity tables and wooden beads.
