Many parents believe that it's not possible to offer purées to babies during baby-led weaning (BLW). However, these recipes are an interesting way to introduce vegetables to babies in a different form! So, can you offer purées to babies during BLW ? Yes, absolutely! Purée won't always be your baby's dinner, though. Your little one will discover the flavors of vegetables in various BLW , including pancakes, muffins, spreads, and purées. The only difference compared to traditional weaning is that purée recipes aren't offered in the same way. During BLW , babies explore food independently, and this also applies to purées and all other smooth textures (compotes, spreads, pesto, etc.). Purées can be offered to babies using a carrier or pre-filled spoons. Carriers are foods that act as a base for smooth textures; these can be rice cakes, pancakes, etc. As for the spoon, you'll fill it and let your baby reach for it from their plate or highchair tray. This way, your little one can discover purees just like a grown-up.
