You've just started the exciting adventure of baby-led weaning (BLW) with your little one and you're worried about how much your baby is eating at mealtimes? Don't stress! At the beginning of BLW , babies don't eat much. Introducing solid foods is a whole new taste experience for your baby; they'll start by exploring food with their five senses and will put only small amounts in their mouth. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. Furthermore, formula or breast milk covers more than 80% of your baby's energy needs until they are 8 months old. Thanks to daily milk intake, their energy needs are more than adequately met. There are a few techniques to encourage your little one to eat their delicious homemade meal. Sharing a meal as a family is important to show your baby that everyone is eating. You can eat the same foods as your baby to set a good example. To make your baby want to eat their plate, you can vary the shapes and presentation of BLW . Baby will quickly become intrigued by his plate and will eventually eat his meal.
