How to safely offer grapes to babies in BLW ?

Grapes, a small, sweet, juicy and energetic autumn fruit, can be offered from 6 months in BLW with the right precautions!

With its tender flesh and naturally sweet flavor, grapes are ideal for introducing babies to the joys of seasonal fruits. They provide a good dose of hydration and nutrients, while being easy to offer in different forms depending on the age.

It contains in particular:
✅ Vitamin C: to support immunity
✅ Vitamin K: essential for growth and blood clotting
✅ Fiber: to promote good transit
✅ Antioxidants (polyphenols): to protect cells

The recipe:

Ingredients

  • A few ripe grapes (preferably seedless, or seeds removed)

Instructions

🔹 From 6 months – Pureed or on a pre-filled spoon
• Cut each grape into 4 lengthwise.
• Crush lightly if necessary and serve on a pre-filled spoon.
💡 Always remove the seeds to avoid any risk.

🔹 From 8 months – In small, melting pieces
• Cut the grapes into 4 or 6 depending on the size.
• Offer the pieces directly on the tablet to encourage gripping.

🔹 From 12 months – Whole, cut in 2 or 4
• Depending on baby's development, always offer grapes cut lengthwise (never whole).
• Can be served with an educational fork to work on independence.

Conservation

  • In pieces: consume within 24 hours in the refrigerator

  • Pureed: up to 48 hours in the fridge or several weeks in the freezer

Tip: Freeze halved and blended grapes to make delicious homemade sorbets with no added sugar! 🍧
