At the start of baby-led weaning, your little one will discover the joy of eating with their fingers. Whether it's raw foods or delicious BLW , baby will explore the world of food using all five senses, including touch. When can you introduce cutlery and plates to baby's meals? From the very beginning of BLW , you can offer baby smooth textures using pre-filled spoons. You fill the spoon, and baby can bring it to their mouth to discover homemade applesauce or lovingly prepared leek puree. Smooth textures can also be offered on carriers. The good development of baby's fine motor skills during BLW will allow them to use a fork around 12 months of age. Introducing a plate at mealtimes will also require waiting until 12 months. At the beginning of BLW , let your baby focus on the essentials by offering food directly on the tray of their highchair. Your little one will discover the different utensils and the plate gradually; there's no need to rush things.
