What to do when baby is sick?

Changes in temperature, wind, cold, the fact that baby has returned to daycare… There are a thousand and one ways for baby to catch a cold, gastroenteritis… Despite all our efforts, we cannot escape it: baby gets sick .

Besides feeling helpless when our little one isn't feeling well, it's not uncommon for them to lose their appetite in these situations! We put things in perspective, we don't force them to eat, it's pointless, and besides: do you feel hungry when you're sick?

Baby has no teeth but you can start the BLW . When a tooth comes out, baby is not very good. Adapt your diet. Also be careful to pay attention to baby's behavior when you introduce allergens.

Adjust your baby's diet

Here are some tips and changes you can make to your baby's diet while you wait for him/her to heal!

Prioritize milk (breast milk if you are breastfeeding, or formula) and water much possible . The most important thing is to keep your baby hydrated!

Prepare your baby's favorite meals : now is not the time to try a new recipe or ingredient. Stick to what your baby knows and loves!

He is offered several small meals throughout the day. This allows the baby to conserve energy to fight off germs/viruses.

Specific meals depending on the baby's condition

Depending on what your baby eats, you can prioritize certain meals or foods to help them feel better.

Digestive problems

We do not hesitate to give foods rich in starch (bananas, white rice, potatoes, pasta, cooked apples, etc.)

Don't hesitate to ask your doctor for advice

If your baby coughs a lot, vomits, is too tired, or delays feeding time, try again later. Trust your baby and don't worry if they don't eat much: they'll make up for it later!

Of course, all of this is just advice and is absolutely not a substitute for a doctor's opinion !
