After the birth of baby, you will spend pretty moments with him. Time will pass at a crazy speed and the day to regain work will arrive quickly. You will then have to call on a crèche or some members of your family/friends to keep your little one. Can a question come in mind: "Can BLW continue when baby is kept?" ».
The crèche of my children, "the little biloux" in Ciney in Belgium, agreed to continue the food diversification led by the child. I will share their experience with Lenny's BLW to you.
The crèche "Les P'tits Biloux"
Lenny is at the crèche for several days a week and is kept by Sandrine, maternal teacher by training, and Nathalie, nurseryman. They agreed to continue the food diversification led by the child for Lenny lunch.
But they quickly wondered in which they had started. I tell you their little anecdote! During the first BLW meal from Lenny to the crèche, they wondered in which they embarked when they saw in what state was Lenny at the end of the meal. He had put it everywhere on him and on his chair! They laughed well and even the other friends of the crèche did not stop saying that Lenny really put it everywhere. But that's not all! Over time, the other children have become envious of Lenny's meals, especially when it was in the form of pancakes or pancakes. They didn't want to eat their meals anymore and only wanted the same thing as Lenny ...

The BLW experience in the crèche
Sandrine and Nathalie experienced food diversification led by the child when Holly arrived at the crèche. They had already heard of it on social networks linked to early childhood. Food training organized by the One does not even talk about it ...
Holly and Lenny had already started BLW at home before going to the crèche. They simply agreed to continue since it was already working well at home.
At first, the reluctance was born. Food training generally highlights the possible "dangers" of BLW and especially the risks of suffocation at mealtime ... which does not reassure particularly.
However, Nathalie and Sandrine are ready to start this experience again with other loulous only if the BLW is already well installed at home.
The advantages of the BLW at the crèche
For Nathalie and Sandrine, the biggest advantage is that BLW develops the independence and autonomy of the child at meals. This allows childcare workers to be more available for other children who must be dreamed while keeping an eye on baby who eats alone.
It is a nice approach to diet that makes baby discover foods in other aspects, with different textures than smooth or crushed purees.
But that's not all! BLW meals warm up much more easily than purees or meals in pieces. The preparation of the meal is fast and the child should not wait too long before eating. It is quite a time saving in terms of organization of meals.
Lenny's meals gave Nathalie and Sandrine to taste them! 😊
The disadvantages of the BLW in the crèche
The biggest disadvantage of BLW is cleaning after each meal. Lenny absolutely puts it everywhere on his chair and it requires a little more work on cleaning.
It is also difficult to know what Lenny had eaten since there is part of his meal which was systematically on the ground. With purees or meals in portions, it is easy to visualize what baby ate at the time of the meal.
Learning BLW in community is not very practical. Early childhood staff does not only have your little end to manage and cannot devote themselves solely to him. It is best to start the BLW at home and continue it with the crèche when it is in place.
The crèche of your little one also agrees to continue the BLW with baby? Do not hesitate to share the practical information on the baby's crèche (name, address, etc.) in order to inform all parents about the nurseries who agree to make the BLW .
