Safety rules

From 6 months, baby has all the skills to start eating songs. However, certain rules are to be recommended in order to guarantee a safe meal .

1. The right position

Baby's position is essential to ensure its safety during the meal. It is essential to have a suitable high chair so that baby can be seated with his back straight to 90 degrees. The position will be more comfortable for him if he can have support under his feet (footrest). The tablet must be up to its navel to allow it easy access to food.

Should we attach baby?
Yes but only the ventral belt . It is strongly advised to leave your shoulders free and without attachments. This will allow if baby has a nauseating reflex to be able to lean forward and be free to move.

When to start the BLW ? There are three conditions to respect before you can start the BLW with baby. Before embarking on BLW , you have to learn about the different safety rules. Is a question that comes up often is water and baby? What can we give as a baby dose? You will find the answers to your questions before you get into the BLW .

2. Baby must be well awake

One of the safety rules is that baby should be well awake at mealtime.

Food diversification is brand new for baby and it requires a lot of energy and concentration . So that baby can make the most of their meal in the best conditions, it is important that it is well awake . If baby is tired or upset it is better to report the meal so that baby keeps a good image of the meal and that does not cause blockages afterwards.

3. The general atmosphere

The general atmosphere is very important in the first baby meals . Food discovery is new, it is therefore important that baby's attention is only focused on the meal. to fully enjoy this moment of learning and sharing in this way .

4. Take the time

Learning to eat is a long process, so it is important to leave the time that baby needs . The first meals can last a long time when baby has not eaten much at the end of the meal. But don't press it ! It takes a lot of effort to baby to bring food to your mouth, and it would be a shame to disrupt your efforts by pressing it. It could even discourage him, which is not the desired goal! Take the time to share your meal with baby . It is not enough to be sitting at the table, but to show the example.

5. Supervision

If baby seems to be able to fend for himself, it is important that you keep an attentive eye on him . First of all to ensure its safety , but also to establish a climate of trust . When you are present, baby feels reassured and can more easily concentrate.

6. Safety foods

So that the discovery of baby's diet goes well, it is very important to make sure to give it food adapted to its age and its evolution. We invite you to read the article dedicated to security formats .

7. Let baby manage

When you choose BLW as a food diversification mode, you make the decision to let baby become the actor of his meal . Your role is therefore to take care of the preparation and quality of food while baby will take care of the quantities. We therefore offer the pieces to baby by putting them in front of him, putting him in his hand, by helping him to carry him to his mouth. But above all you don't put food yourself in your mouth.

Baby will bring food alone to his mouth to quibble, suck, eat away, take down small ends. In short, he will discover the songs in his own way and at his pace, with or without teeth !

8. Inform those around

Finally, the last security rule is the information of those around you on the technique of diversification chosen. This will help your family properly offer baby food. Is it for childcare modes and BLW ? How to do it? Don't stress anymore, we explain how to do it!

The BLW being still strongly overlooked, it is sometimes difficult to justify and be able to explain its choice. However, it is preferable to inform baby's entourage about the food diversification mode you have chosen. Be sure to explain to them why you have chosen the BLW and the different points to be attentive for everything to go well.

We have also concocted a small booklet that you can give to those around you!

Having started purees at 4 months and wanting to start BLW from 6 months is quite possible. Or you are wondering how breast / infantile milk and BLW combined.
