Finding the right plate for baby's meals

Before embarking on the wonderful adventure of baby-led BLW ), it's helpful to learn about the essential equipment needed to ensure everything goes smoothly. With so many options available, it can be difficult to know which plate to choose for your baby. We'll give you all our tips to help you find the best one!

The beginning of BLW without a plate

At the beginning of weaning, the various foods and homemade recipes will be offered directly on the tray of the baby's highchair . This new food adventure requires a lot of concentration and effort from the baby, so it's important to keep things simple by offering the food directly. There's no need to distract them with cutlery or a plate. These are distractions, and the baby will no longer be able to focus on what's most important: the food. It's only around 12 months of age that you can use a plate to offer the food to the baby.

The right plate for baby

There are so many different shapes, colors, and materials for baby plates that it's easy to get lost. Don't panic, the perfect plate for your little one must meet three criteria .

First, the baby's plate should be a neutral color . Avoid plates with patterns or other designs. Babies don't have the same 3D vision as adults and may mistake the patterns on the plate for food. The baby will then try unsuccessfully to grab the patterns on the plate.

Next, a plate with compartments will be ideal. This will allow you to offer different foods separately on your baby's plate. Your little one will also find it easier to grab the food thanks to the many raised edges on the plate.

Finally, the material of your baby's plate should be chosen carefully. Opt for BPA-free silicone plates , which are sturdy and durable. You can also choose bamboo plates with original designs.

You can also choose plates with a suction cup underneath so that they are securely attached to the tray of the baby's chair and do not end up on the floor.

You're now ready to choose the perfect plate for your baby's meals! Ultimately, it's not that complicated when you're well-informed!
