When starting baby-led weaning, we often choose to introduce everyday fruits with mild flavors. Apples and pears are usually the first fruits on the list. Did you know that exotic fruits can be offered to babies right from the start of BLW ? We regularly eat exotic fruits like bananas, kiwis, mangoes, avocados, and pineapples. The unique flavor of these colorful fruits will tantalize your baby's taste buds from around 6 months old .

There is a wide variety of exotic fruits that we are not very familiar with. Introducing your baby to fruits like persimmon, lychee, passion fruit, pomegranate, papaya, etc., will also allow you to rediscover or discover an exotic fruit.

Exotic fruits are excellent sources of vitamins, perfect for both summer and winter . Their beautiful colors will pique your little one's curiosity , and their flavors will take your baby on a journey around the world.

How to introduce exotic fruits to a baby?

These fruits with varied colours and flavours will be introduced into the baby's in the same way as more classic fruits .

Ripe exotic fruits melt in the mouth and therefore don't need to be cooked before being offered to your baby. Your little one will be able to eat the fruit by mashing it with their tongue, gums, and palate. Don't hesitate to peel the exotic fruits, as the skin could stick to your baby's palate .

If the exotic fruit is n't ripe enough , you have two options. Wait until the fruit is fully ripe before offering it to your baby, or steam it for a few minutes to make it softer.

Just like with regular fruits, it will be important to offer exotic fruits to the baby in a safe format depending on the baby's development.
