Leek purée: an example of a BLW meal to enjoy with a pre-filled spoon

The introduction of different utensils at mealtimes during baby-led weaning (BLW) will happen gradually. Indeed, at the beginning of BLW , it's important to let your baby focus on the essentials by offering recipes directly on the tray of their highchair. Initially, your baby will discover BLW meals with their fingers, such as pancakes, muffins, cakes, balls, etc. From 6 months onwards, you can use pre-filled spoons, as they are quite smooth. It will be rather difficult for your baby to grasp them with their fingers. The recipe will then be placed on a spoon that your baby can take and bring to their mouth independently. Here are some BLW meals that can be offered with pre-filled spoons: purees, spreads, hummus, etc.
